Noshinima Midas – The amazing porn photographer

I had the privilege to meet and interview Noshinima Midas, “Nosh” for her fans. I hope you will like to read those lines as much as I liked reporting them to you. Happy reading!

Dear Nosh, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and to welcome me in your home, which is wonderful by the way. I usually start at the beginning of the story and I would like you to tell me how was your SecondLife when you started? When did you start? What was your idea when you started and how it evolved to the Nosh we know today?

Well, it all started six years ago when I was just searching for something new I could do in my spare time. At the time back in 2011, I was in college and working, trying to work as much as possible and taking as many classes as possible just to keep myself busy. Through it all, I still had some spare time left to have fun, both in real life as well as online. I was looking to spice up my online life a bit so as I was surfing a porn website (yes, women watch porn too), I discovered an ad for a virtual world called Red Light Center. It looked very intriguing seeing that you could have sex with other avatars on there. So I decided to check it out for a bit. But once I got there, I was immediately underwhelm with how little I could do as a nonpaying member. I couldn’t remove my clothes and I could not even have sex unless I paid for it. Not to mention, the virtual world itself was so poorly done as I was able to walk through walls and the like.

Due to my terrible experience at Red Light Center, I decided to give Second Life a chance. I had heard of Second Life for a long time due to ads and news articles stating that it’s a good and fun way to make money. I wasn’t necessarily looking to make money but I was more looking to spice up my online sex life with roleplaying and such. When I discovered that I could have sex and remove my own clothes without having to pay for it here, I shut down my RLC account and never looked back.

You are one of the big names of SecondLife porn, we see you everywhere. How does this porn adventure started? How would you explain the success you have today?

It’s actually a very funny story looking back at it now. I was one of those girls that just wanted to model for people and didn’t really want to do the photography myself as I didn’t think that I had the talent. I had recently updated my avatar to have a mesh body and a mesh head and thus wanted new profile pictures for it. I didn’t think to ask the SL porn community so I went searching using the search feature. Through several loops I had to jump through, I eventually found a guy that claimed that he would do my images for a price (L$3000 at the time, ridiculous). The first problem was that he kept telling me how I needed to change all these things on my avatar to make it more photogenic. I didn’t think much and did as he said. I try talking to him for weeks letting him know that I would like to get my images done and he would always promise me but would never seem to have the time. He would then suddenly go on a trip overseas and didn’t even bother to inform me. He was already on thin ice by the time he came back and he eventually stated that he had an hour to do my shoot.

It was at this time that he really started to annoy me with the runaround. When I put on the dress that he said he wanted to shoot, he claimed that he could only see me as a purple silhouette. That’s what you see when your setting aren’t high enough to view an avatar with a high complexity but he kept insisting that it was a problem with me and my dress. I spend like 30 minutes trying to convince him that the problem was on his end and when he finally did adjust his settings, he then claimed that he had forgotten what we had agreed upon. Eventually, he told me that his time was up and that he had to go to RL to take care of a roast that was in the oven. I was so upset that he had gotten nothing done in the entire month that we had trying to take my pictures that I ultimately blocked him and decided get into the photography business myself.

As for how I got into the porn business, I guess it also has to do with me just understanding that I have to do my porn images myself if I want it done right. I practice a little bit with me and my boyfriend’s avatar and once I was comfortable enough with it, I would then ask others within the Second Life porn industry to join me in my pictures.

What do you think differentiate you from the very hard competition in the porn industry?

Probably my drive to work with others within the SL porn industry and my attention to detail. I’m a perfectionist in many accounts and I seek to make sure there are no flaws in my pictures. Being that I also have a background in roleplaying, I tend to give a narrative and a meaning to my images and make them so that it tells a story instead of just doing images for the sake of doing them in many cases.

Could you take a picture or a series and tell us the story that goes with it or them?

I would say that all my images tell a story as there are a few that I’ve taken that I can’t really write a story to. I can for the one’s in my Versus series though. For example, this one:

This is an image where me and my boyfriend Marcus were looking for a dog sitter to take care of our dogs while we are away for a party. It showcases us in the background about to leave with Simone and our dogs dominate the image, suggesting that we called her for this exact purpose. I wanted my image to explain to the viewer just what is going on here and what are the events taking place and why are they happening. Of course, I cannot do this with every image, but I combine my writing skills onto them to enhance the image in the viewers mind.

Note: the full series can be found here.

How would you define your career today: Are you a model, an actress, a photographer? Probably a mix of all of that, tell us more about what you do and how your career evolved?

I’m first and foremost a photographer through and through. I thought of myself as a model, but quickly grew to realize that that industry is too saturated with people that it’s almost impossible to stand out without becoming a photographer yourself. Everyday is a new adventure in my mind as to what I want to do in my photography.

You are publishing a lot of your work on Flickr. Is it the sole media on which your publish? What are the others?

Flickr is pretty much the only place that I publish my works. I could open a Tumblr, but not too many people have one that it makes getting one meaningless. I pretty much just like posting on a site that most people are on and that’s Flickr.

I know it will not be easy but could you pick up a few pics from your stream and tell us why you are proud of them?

Hehe it’s actually not that hard to pick out a few. There is this image:

It’s basically my first image to reach 200 faves on Flickr. It was an amazing experience to be working with these 4 lovely ladies and posing them for an Ass Monday shoot that I didn’t want anyone to ever forget. What makes this shoot so special to me was that this is one of the few shoots where I didn’t use my LumiPro HUD. I used just windlights and managed to have our asses shine nicely in the sun.

There’s also this one:

I gathered 3 of the top girls in the Second Life porn industry to do this one as everybody loves these three. This is also one of the few “artsy” images that I have taken during my career and everyone loves art on Flickr. I just had this image in my mind of use posing in front of a lonely building and I feel like the building adds a lot of mystery to this pic.

Another Dare to Compare image. In this one, I get a few guys involved for a Fellatio Friday image. My Dare to Compare images are a play on Partee’s group images where she gets 3 or more ladies to pose with her. I decided to take that concept and mix it with PJ Thornton’s “smut” style. It came out looking so good that this also has almost 200 faves to its name.

This is my most popular image in the Versus series. It’s a very simple image where me and Shai are in the middle of the ocean at night and we have a night of lonely fun under the moonlight. That just makes this image all the more artistic if you will.

And I know this isn’t my most popular image but I’m also very proud of this one:

This was my first Versus shoot done with my favourite SL photographer PJ Thornton. I love sex so much and her images are what I wish I could do in real life, so I decided to invite her over to have a bit of “fun” with her. She’s awesome.

Could you do the same but this time choosing pictures others have taken of you. I know you have worked with Ted Dosei, Aria Horan, Marcus Strong and many others. Surely there are a few pics you particularly like?

Well there aren’t that many because no one ever asks me to be in pictures, but here goes:

This one was taken by Luke Fortacos. He’s a really underrated artist that I think deserves more Flickr follows. He doesn’t use Anypose, but is able to create pictures along with the best of them.

Taken by Partee Mytili. One of the friendliest people on Second Life that you can meet. She was the one that inspired me to start my Dare to Compare series, where I copy her style of group images.

Taken by the gone but not forgotten Dylan Cohen. He was a great artist that sadly doesn’t go online anymore. This was also the first time I got to meet Jori Jewell, another one of my favorite artists that I really love.

Taken by Dokielicious Doobie. One of my top three favorite SL photographers of all time. She’s way better than me at photography and it was an honor to be in a pic with her. Fun fact, I gave her the lindens for the limo that we’re in as a gift. She’s too sweet not to gift it to her. 😉

Taken by Riska Demina. A super sweet girl that can brighten anyones day. I also met Dokie’s boyfriend Cykes during this. Dokie sure is lucky because Cykes is smart and funny and a great guy to talk to.

Taken by Yana Grau. Hehe, Yana takes pictures of EVERYONE that comes into her club, but this particular picture she took of me stands out to me because of my smile. I wasn’t even dancing, just standing their pretty. 😉

And finally, this one:

Taken by Ellen Saint. As far as people on Second Life go, Ellen Saint and Gwenivere are my two top favorite people on all of Second Life. Me and Elle are thinking about starting a relationship, but you’ll never know what tomorrow brings.

We have seen you in June on Dog Stars Productions or November girl in SL Confidential. How do you manage your time? How do you advertise yourself to be so visible? What’s the secret?

The secret is to just be active and make sure you advertise your pictures in places where you know they’ll be seen. I don’t post my images in groups much because I’ve already seen that not many people check their own groups, but you just got to make sure that your images are good enough to make people want to see more of them. It’s why I spend my time editing my images to make them easy on the eyes.

What are the tools or techniques you are using to take your photos? Would you have any advice for people willing like you to throw themselves into photography?

The tools I used inworld the the very handy Anypose, which no one should leave their home without and my trusty LumiPro, which makes dramatic photography all the more fun. I brought the FATE hand poser because I figured that I would make my photography even better using it, but it turned out to be a nightmare to actually use properly, so unless it’s a super serious case, I almost never use it. It is still important to use your hand poses for your photography however.

Offline, I use GIMP to add special effects if the image needs it. I also use the Nik Collection to touch up on my images to give them that extra sense of pizazz. The Nik Collection has been a godsend to me and I recommend it for all photographers.

The best advice I can give is to never stop practising. I wasn’t always the good photographer that I am now and I’m still learning. You have to keep doing it until you get it right. After that, it becomes a breeze.

When you edit your images, without revealing all your secrets, what do you tend to change or amend to make them look so good?

Hehe, this is a pretty hard question to answer without exposing anything secrets of mind, but I usually always add to my images, not so much take away. I am a big sucker for detail, and prior to the shoot, I make sure that all the little details are handled first. When i edit my images, I like to enhance the image in a way, to give it more life sort to speak. Make those little details pop out onto the viewers eyes to the point were they pierce the viewers retinas.

You have also an active role as an actress in porn movies as well. I know you have worked with Mitzy Broadway. How many movies did you act in? What are the most popular or the ones you prefer?

Hehe. I’ve only been in two movies so far, both directed by Mitzy Broadway. Rachel Avro recommended me to Mitzy and thus, I’ve gotten pretty good parts in her movies. In the first one I was featured in, 2069, A Porn Odyssey, I had sex with Rachel Avro while in a Roman bath, in a large group orgy that was so amazing that I just wish I had though of it sooner. In the second movie I was in, Lust – Dante’s Divide Comedy, I also had sex with Rachel Avro. She was playing the role of Dido, founder and first queen of Carthage, while I played the role of Cleopatra, queen of ancient Egypt. We’re both in the second circle of hell, where the lustful are flung around by a fierce tornado.

I don’t know which movie was more successful but I personally loved the first movie more than the second. I hope to star in more movies soon hopefully.

What are your projects? Any new ideas you would accept to share with us?

I have a giant backlog of images that are ready to be released into the Flickr world. I release my images once a day so that they can all have a maximum amount of views once they’re released. Without giving away too many spoilers, I’m just going to say that in my next Versus series, I’ll be going back to the beach for a night of fun. In the episode after that, I’m going to be involved in a game me and my friends are playing. Afterwards, I’ll be running and managing my own club where I hire a famous person and lastly, I’ll be visiting a friend who is in the business of helping people. Hopefully, I made the details vague enough for you to guess what I’m talking about. 😉

My last question which is a little tradition of our blog. Tell us something secret about you, a fantasy maybe or something you rarely shared with others?

I LOVE sex, which is no secret. But due to my new love for Second Life photography, I’ve decided to only focus on photography while I’m in Second Life, only having sex with those that I like the most and no longer with random strangers and only have sex in my real life. I guess you can say that my real life self is FAR more promiscuous than my Second Life, now more than ever. Even if I do secretly wish to act out the fantasies I display in my Flickr profile out in real life. 😉

Thank you Nosh!

Yes that’s the end of the interview 🙂 I can only advise that you now take a deep look into Nosh’s stream … be careful it’s very hot material.
Kisses,
Cathy

I found this interview to be remarkably entertaining. I’m a fairly recent devotee of Nosh’s, but in the short time I’ve enjoyed her work I have become a devoted fan. One might say I’m a bit addicted. Her work is nothing short of enchanting. It offers all that good eroticism should and goes well beyond by also offering the most stunning illustrations to make it all the more real and exciting. Her work is meticulously thought out, obviously the product of a beautiful, erotic and delightfully uninhibited mind. It was great fun learning about her journey and will only serve to enhance my enjoyment of her contributions. Funny how I always feel like having a cigarette when I’m done viewing her work, and I don’t even smoke. Nosh, we love ya!!
